Mary Thomson was born on 26 May 1884 . Her father, James, was a draper. She attended Kent Road Public School, Glasgow, Scotland and trained as a pupil-teacher there from 1902-1904 , achieving a 1st class pass in her Pupil-Teacher's Institute examinations a year later. She continued her teacher training at the Glasgow Church of Scotland Teacher's Training College, qualifying as a teacher in drawing, singing, needlework and German in 1906. These are Economic History lecture notes, possibly a lecturer's own notes. There are 6 notebooks within a slipcase. On the slipcase is written in pencil "Dr James Cunnison? Alec Macfie?" The identification of the author of these notes is not certain. There is one letter within volume 6 addressed to Dr Cunnison, but without a comparison of handwriting it has not possible to assign these notes to Dr Cunnison. References within the notes would indicate that they were written after 1924. ...
